I finished the third square on Summer Snapperland last week. I’m getting so close to finishing this! Just one more square and the border and I’m done! I can smell the finish line from here. Here’s what my Snapperland looks like now, pardon the rumples.
On Friday (well actually, Saturday), I worked on Still Waters for my SAL with Melissa. I like how it’s coming along and am hoping I’ll get to finish the central motif as well as the sheep and lion this week. I’m not too sure I like the llama’s face, though.
I decided to stop being a slob and tidy up the mess that is my crafting space. I’m fast running out of room to keep everything, so it was about time I sorted stuff out. In the process, I discovered Reflets de Soie’s Brassee des Fleurs, which I had kitted out with floss a couple of years ago but never got around to starting. Since I do love the design and want to get it done, I dug through my stash box and realised that the flax linen which I had originally set aside for it had been used for something else. So I tossed the floss with natural linen and took a picture to get some opinions.
The flax would show off the colours beautifully, but that would mean having to buy a half of it for this design. The natural is the perfect size but I’m concerned it’s a bit too dark. Opinions, please!
I wanted to share my progress on Summer Snapperland, even though I haven’t made all that much headway of late. I’ve started watching The Tudors on DVD and it’s a rather absorbing series so I frequently find my needle at a standstill and my mouth open! I think Jonathan Rhys Meyers is so cute, and he pulls off his role as the mercurial Henry VIII very well too.
Last night was made doubly unproductive due to heavy rain in the evening – the flying ants were out in full force and I had to turn off my stitching light because the ants kept landing on my fabric and flying near my face, which was really unnerving, so I had to stitch without my light and could hardly see as a result.
Anyway, here is Snapperland. I finally received the skein of GAST Shutter Green needed to stitch the words on the border, so I’ll probably get started on that after I finish the Lighthouse square.
I love how quickly Summer Snapperland is coming along! In a jiffy, I’ve completed Whale House. Okay, so I haven’t longstitched the whale’s eyes and mouth because I don’t have the Onyx thread it calls for but you wouldn’t notice because of the colour anyway. But really, look how fast it’s gotten done! I started on the second block, Bike Ride last night, but haven’t gotten anything done today because I’ve been nursing a migraine since we came back from church. A trip to the reflexology centre seems to have taken care of it, so maybe I’ll get a few more stitches in tonight before bedtime. Here are my progress pictures.
I have to say, the crabs in this design are my absolute favourite. Look how cute the first little crab is! There’s another in Bike Ride, and I can’t wait to get him stitched up too. Love crabs! In fact, love ’em so much, I’ve a dinner appointment tomorrow with a group of girlfriends to eat ’em! LOL.
I’ll be putting this project aside after I finish Bike Ride to pay attention to the two biscornu exchanges I have to get sent out in the next week or so. After that, it’ll be full steam ahead cos’ I really want to get this done and framed and up on the wall somewhere in our home ASAP.
