I’m still under the weather, so the working hours passed by in a blur today. After a session of foot reflexology and back massage, I was feeling more like my old self. All I needed was a perk-me-up in the form of a lovely package from Valerie!
Valerie stitched a lovely free design from Frimousse and finished it as a generously-proportioned biscornu. She wrote in her note to me that she made it big so that I could use it as a pincushion. But, well, it’s so soft and pretty that I’m tempted to use it as a pillow!
She also included a pair of beautiful buttons with pressed flowers inside them, purple ribbon (I don’t have any so this will come in handy) and threads from The Dye is Cast which I have not tried before.
Thank you so much Valerie, for a wonderful exchange!
This is Eightsome Reel as I left it yesterday night. I shifted the fabric on my Q-snaps and made the discovery that said Q-snaps leave marks on Countrystitch fabric. I have a habit of leaving my fabric on the frame and only removing it when I need to move to a new section to stitch on, but none of the hand-dyed or standard fabrics I’ve used so far have been marked like this. It’s not so bad, just a light white line that seemed to fade a little when I rubbed on it – but it’s there. I figure that it won’t be seen much once I stitch over it. I hope.
I’m going to pack Reel away for a while to work on something else. Maybe there will be progress on this next week.
Leena received the biscornu I made for her safe and sound, so I can share pictures of it here.
The pattern is a freebie by Barbara Ana, and I used my own choice of DMC colours because I went through all five of my floss boxes and not one of the colours listed in the pattern was in them. Why is that always the case??
Leena had Cut Thru’ Lighthouse and Christmas designs on her wish/like lists, so I send her these two charts from my stash, as well as Au Ver A Soie and GAST fibres in fall colours, and some green tea.
I had fun putting this exchange together! Next – an Eightsome Reel WIP update.
This is Eightsome Reel as it was yesterday. I’ve finished and sent off my SBEBB biscornu exchange so there’s time to devote to this until the next exchange comes due.
I quite enjoy working with Threadworx floss. This colour, Tropical Green, has subtle variations which I like. The floss doesn’t get all tangled up either, which is nice, because untangling floss is one of the things I hate about stitching! The other being the you-know-what.
I’m down with a bout of sinusitis right now and am on sorely-needed medical leave today and tomorrow, which is a pity since I am actually on course and the instructor is veteran journalist Gerard Braud. Hi Gerard, if you’re reading this because your Google Analytics tool picked this up.
I’m feeling the effects of my meds coming on, so it’s time to wrap this till the next update. Stitch on!
After months and months of not picking up a needle, I finally found inspiration to stitch again. This is partly due to the fact that I have the SBEBB Biscornu Exchange obligation to fulfil, and partly because I’ve been wanting to start Papillon Creations’ Eightsome Reel for quite some time now, after fondling the chart repeatedly. Yes, I have a problem with startitis. My WIP pile is shameful.
Anyhoo, here is Eightsome Reel after a couple of hours’ work in front of the telly. I really do live up to my blog’s name. This is on 32count Tussock from Countrystitch using Threadworx 1047 aka Tropical Green.
I hope all of you have been well and stitching up a storm, and not slacking as I’ve been!
