Archive for June 2006
For the first time ever, I am going to attempt a two-WIP rotation. So I’m breaking out Mary Engelbreit’s Santa’s Treasures Christmas stocking, which I’m stitching for myself, and rotating it on a weekly basis with Palace Princess.
I was looking at my stitching goals for 2006, which I reproduce here for your convenience:
1. Finish the Round Robin – done!
2. Finish Palace Princess – long way more to go
3. Start on long-overdue Christmas stockings – I said I wanted to finish at least K’s and Ally’s before Christmas, but that’s not going to happen realistically
4. Start my Houtman patchwork sampler – maybe next year
5. Wedding pattern – definitely next year
6. Miscellaneous projects – still doable
I’m not known for keeping to resolutions and goals, so that’s why I’ve deviated quite a bit from this list, what with the Mr Men sampler and now my Christmas stocking. Doesn’t look like this will be an exceptionally fruitful year of stitching, although I still hope to finish Palace Princess by Christmas.
After a long, long break I’ve finally gotten out my stone-cold Palace Princess and started working on her again. I didn’t feel like stitching and didn’t have any time to for the longest time after mailing off the final round robin rotation, but she has been calling my name so I dug her out and popped her in my Q-snaps, and hey! I’m stitching again.
At 46,288 stitches and only 1,400 done it’s going to take a while. Still, it’s a start! I may kick off a X’mas stocking as well, if I can get to Spotlight and buy the floss for it this week. I know I said I’d do the Mr Men Alphabet Sampler and I’ve prepared everything for it, down to Fray-Stop on the fabric edges, but somehow I’ve lost the will to start stitching it. The stocking kit has been in my stash for more than a year, so I guess it should be a higher-priority to do than Mr Men. Woe is the fickle stitcher in me.
